Este proyecto pretende fortalecer el clima escolar y el compromiso estudiantil de estudiantes de grado 7º como una estrategia para frenar las altas tasas de deserción y rezago estudiantil. El compromiso alude a la energía, intensidad, tiempo y esfuerzo que los estudiantes invierten en sus actividades académicas y sociales dentro y fuera del aula (Pascarella & Terenzini, 2005; Parsons, Richey & Ward, 2014). Involucra, además, las políticas y prácticas escolares que se diseñan para estimular social y cognitivamente al estudiante. La investigación sobre el papel del compromiso estudiantil ha demostrado que se asocia con el logro académico, la resiliencia, con la disminución del rezago y la alienación (Pineda et al., 2014, Appleton, Christenson & Furlong, 2008; Fredericks, Blumenfeld & Paris, 2004). Estimular diferentes tipos de compromiso (comportamental, emocional, cognitivo) en los estudiantes involucra incrementar la aceptación de sí mismos, elevar el auto-concepto propender por un mayor apego y membresía con su institución (Ros, 2009). Dicho incremento se revierte en la calidad de las tareas que realiza el estudiante y en las formas de relacionamiento con profesores y pares, entre otros. El proyecto se plantea desde una postura de investigación mixta y se propone como una alternativa para frenar el rezago y el abandono escolar en la educación de jóvenes de la sabana en Cundinamarca.

This project aims to strengthen one of the causes of dropout from student commitment, which is key to curbing high student dropout rates. The concept refers to the energy, intensity, time and effort that students invest in their academic and social activities in and outside the classroom (Pascarella & Terenzini, 2005; Parsons, Richey & Ward, 2014). It involves, therefore, the policies and practices school designed to stimulate cognitive and socially the student. Research on the role of student engagement has been shown to be associated with academic achievement, resilience, reduced lag and alienation (Pineda et al., 2014, Appleton, Christenson & Furlong, 2008; Fredericks, Blumenfeld & Paris , 2004). To stimulate different types of commitment (behavioral, emotional, cognitive) is to encourage students to accept themselves and increase self-concept, attachment and membership with their institution (Ros, 2009). This increase is reflected in the quality of the tasks performed by the student and in the forms of relationships with teachers and peers, among others.
