Knowledge Spillovers And Absorptive Capacities In The Colombian Industrial And Services Sectors

Project: Project Research

Project Details

Description

Knowledge is the resource of wealth of contemporary Knowledge Society. Firms generate knowledge in a two-step process. The first step is an explosion of creativity, followed by a diffusion activity of this new knowledge production (Schumpeter, 1912). The first step is deployed inside the firms. The second one is carried out both inside the firms and outside in the markets, and in society. Inquiring about the dynamics derived from how firms’ internal capabilities and internal absorptive capacities could generate external knowledge spillovers is the main research objective of this research. These discoveries have been found and validated in developed countries. In the Colombian case this field appears as a promising topic for research supporting pertinent and accurate policy strategies. This dynamic will be analyzed in the Colombian Industrial and Services sectors using multivariate statistical regression methods (probit, logit and tobit regressions; factor analysis, and the design of structural equations models) with the information provided by the Colombian Innovation Surveys (Encuestas de Innovación y Desarrollo Tecnológico para el sector de servicios y para la industria), which are designed and carried out by the DANE.
