Diversos estudios muestran la incidencia creciente del bullying y cyberbullying en las instituciones educativas, sin embargo las implicaciones y relaciones entre los participantes de este fenómeno no se han establecido claramente (Bringue & Sabadá, 2011; Paul, Smith, & Blumberg, 2012; Schenk & Fremouw, 2012; Smith, 2009; Vandebosch, Beirens, D'Haese, Wegge, & Pabian, 2012). El bullying es el fenómeno de violencia entre pares caracterizado por la persistencia, intencionalidad y desbalance de poder entre el perpetrador y la víctima (Olweus, 1993). En años recientes el bullying se ha transformado en una nueva forma de violencia a través de medios digitales el cyberbullying.Aunque el cyberbullying tiene las mismas características de forma del bullying, cuenta con nuevas condiciones como el anonimato y la potencialidad de adquirir mayor audiencia a través de la red (Slonje & Smith, 2008). La manifestación del bullying y cyberbullying esta influenciada por variables de género y edad, los niños tienden a estar más involucrados en situaciones de violencia que las niñas, específicamente en fenómenos que involucran el abuso físico. Por su parte las niñas, juegan un rol importante en tipos de abuso social. El cyberbullying es considerado una forma de violencia o abuso indirecta en la que las niñas tienden a estar más involucradas que los niños (Me Guckin, Cummins, & Lewis, 2010; Smith et al., 2008).

Studies show the increasing incidence of bullying and cyberbullying in educational institutions, however the implications and relationships among the participants of this phenomenon have not been clearly established (Bringue & Sábada, 2011, Paul, Smith, & Blumberg, 2012; Schenk & Fremouw, 2012, Smith, 2009; Vandebosch, Beirens, D'Haese, Wegge, & Pabian, 2012). Bullying is the phenomenon of peer violence characterized by persistence, intent and power imbalance between the perpetrator and the victim (Olweus, 1993). In recent years, bullying has become a new form of violence through digital media cyberbullying.Although cyberbullying has the same shape characteristics of bullying, has new conditions such as anonymity and the potential to gain greater audience through the (Slonje & Smith, 2008) network. The manifestation of bullying and cyberbullying is influenced by variables of gender and age, children tend to be more involved in situations of violence than girls, specifically in phenomena that involve physical abuse. Meanwhile the girls, play an important role in kinds of social abuse.Cyberbullying is considered an indirect form of violence or abuse that girls tend to be more involved than boys (I Guckin, Cummins, & Lewis, 2010, Smith et al., 2008).
