Percepción De Pacientes Y Familias Usuarias De La Terapia Electroconvulsiva Bajo Anestesia Y Relajación

Pregunta de investigación: ¿Cuál es la percepción y la experiencia de los pacientes y las familias, usuarios de la terapia electroconvulsiva?Objetivo: Evaluar la percepción de los pacientes y las familias que han sido usuarias de la terapia electroconvulsiva, y adicionalmente la experiencia durante el tiempo del procedimiento.Pertinencia y relevancia: La TEC es un tratamiento eficaz en varias enfermedades mentales, sin embargo, la percepción negativa sobre el mismo actúa como una barrera para el acceso de los pacientes que pueden necesitarlo. En el país no se cuentan con estudios que evalúen directamente la percepción o la experiencia de los pacientes que han recibido el tratamiento y de sus familias. Metodología: Se realizará un estudio descriptivo utilizando una metodología mixta. En la primera parte se realizará un abordaje cuantitativo, por medio de escalas, de la percepción del procedimiento (tiempo 0 y 1), y en una segunda parte se realizará una aproximación cualitativa, para la cual se realizarán entrevistas a profundidad con metodología narrativa. Resultados: Se espera encontrar resultados de la percepción al inicio y al final del procedimiento y, adicionalmente, una descripción de la experiencia de los pacientes.

Research question: What is the perception and experience of patients, and their families, who receive electroconvulsive therapy?Objective: The main objective is to evaluate the perception of patients, and their families, who have received electroconvulsive therapy and, additionally, to explore their experience during the treatment.Suitability and relevance: ECT is an effective treatment in several mental illnesses; however, the negative perception surrounding it acts as a barrier to this kind of treatment. In our country there are no studies that evaluate the perception or experience of the patients, and their families, who have received this treatment.Methodology: A descriptive study will be carried out using a mixed method. First of all, a quantitative approach will be carried out, using scales on the perception of the procedure (time 0 and 1), and in a second part a qualitative approach will be made, for which interviews will be performed with a narrative methodology.Results: We will obtain results on the perception regarding the procedure both at the beginning and at the end of the treatment, as well as a description of both patients' and family´s experience.
