Resumen
A medical prescription was used in the New Kingdom of Granada between the 18th and 19th centuries, describing the method for treating dysenteric disease and analyzing such from a modern medical perspective. Some of the most common therapeutical approaches included bloodletting and other substances derived from vegetal matter. The dysenteric disease greatly impacted morbimortality in the time of American colonies. The purpose is to elucidate the cultural, religious, and physiopathological bases of the different therapeutic techniques employed, bringing to light the origin of today's current management of dysenteric disease.
